It is all too easy to think of “the bottom billion” in the abstract – but we hope that shining a light on even a tiny fraction of the world’s poor will put a human face on the suffering and crushing inequality endured by so many.

The Jhamtse Gatsal campus.It is a community, a school, and a home for about
90 children ranging in age from toddler to adolescent. Jhamtse Gatsal lies in the district of Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, India, and the children come from nearby villages. Each of these children has a background of adversity. Our driving goal is to provide these children with better lives, helping them to achieve their fullest potential.

The Bali resident and her team have spent the last 5 years revolutionizing bamboo construction in the belief that it is an underused but ideal renewable resource. Hardy uses boron, which occurs naturally in nature, to treat the bamboo and make it indigestible to insects.
